Expanders

Palatal Expanders are used to address issues of an under-developed upper jaw, such as cross bite, crowding, and other issues with the bite. The palate expander gently widens the upper jaw over 9 to 12 weeks and is usually in the mouth for 4-6 months. Most patients do not need a palate expander. For those who do, it is helpful to widen the upper jaw to prepare the mouth for braces.
